Powering a Green Future

In 2018, Statkraft launched its new strategy: Powering a Green Future. The ambition of this strategy is to become a leading company in renewable energy by 2025.

Statkraft is a Norwegian state-owned energy company primarily focused on producing renewable energy. It is one of Europe’s largest generators of renewable energy and specializes in hydropower, wind power, solar power, and gas-fired power. Statkraft operates in various countries around the world and is considered one of the leaders in the renewable energy sector.

The company’s mission is to provide clean energy solutions that are both sustainable and innovative. The company aims to play a significant role in the global transition to a more sustainable energy future.

Specifique's mission was to ensure strategic alignment among all employees, using methods that facilitate active involvement and heartfelt engagement.

The first step was to create a detailed plan for the strategic alignment and implementation process. Specifique conducted an thorough analysis with the goal of establishing a comprehensive process for strategic execution. This was done in collaboration with a group of carefully selected individuals from Statkraft, both leaders and relevant employees. The analysis led to the design of a three-step process: mobilization, implementation, and continuous improvement.

The initial phase was ensuring strategic alignment in the top management group. This was done through a detailed presentation of the project and brainstorming to ensure enthusiasm among relevant stakeholders and increase chances of successful strategy implementation.

After aligning the top management group, individual leaders were included in the second phase. Once again the objective was to increase enthusiasm and engagement, in addition to gaining increased insights and involvement from this leadership level. Specifique then developed a tool that individual leaders could use to conduct workshops with their own teams. A combination of both Dialogue Mats and Diggle was utilised to create superior learning outcomes.

For Statkraft, it was important to develop methods and tools that the organisation itself could utilise.

Phase 3 was organising a global leadership assembly where the importance of the new strategy was discussed and contextualised within the necessary culture to support it. The primary goal of the workshop was to build knowledge and comprehension of Statkraft’s new strategy, and to create accountability to ensure strategic alignment and success.

The global leadership assembly was a great success, and one of Specifique’s largest and greatest workshop achievements so far. Through the use of Diggle, Statkraft was able to achieve strategic alignment across all departments – gaining insights and engagement like never before. 

Following the remaining months of 2019, Statkraft will independently manage the remainder of the process. To guarantee ongoing improvement and diligent oversight, Specifique and Statkraft have developed a comprehensive plan that fosters transparent and company-wide communication. Regularly scheduled meetings are in place for personalized development and performance reviews. These measures aim not just to facilitate the strategic follow-through, but also to establish accountability and equip all employees with the essential information and skills needed to sustain the strategic initiative.  

2023 update: Statkraft will in November 2023 once again gather their leaders and continue their strategy work in line with the company’s new strategic ambitions. Diggle will be used as the main learning tool in a two-day workshop to facilitate strategic alignment, positive learning outcomes, and data collection for further improvement and strategy implementation.
